Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi ahead of the first-in-person Quad meeting in Washington.
Scott Morrison and Narendra Modi discussed a range of issues on Thursday before Friday’s Quad summit to be hosted at the White House in Washington.
Scott Morrison hailed Indian PM as a great friend of Australia on Twitter.
“Great to meet with my good friend and a great friend of Australia, Indian PM Narendra Modi, during my visit to the US. A wide-ranging and productive discussion ahead of the first in-person Quad meeting as we look to further deepen the partnership between our two countries,” he tweeted.
Indian PM’s office said the two leaders discussed subjects to deepen economic and people-to-people ties.
“PM Scott MorrisonMP held talks with PM Narendra Modi. They discussed a wide range of subjects aimed at deepening economic and people-to-people linkages between India and Australia,” PMO India posted on Twitter.
India and Australia are members of Quadrilateral strategic dialogue known as Quad, along with Japan and the US. The members are meeting at the White House on Friday.
