History of the current Ukraine crisis from 1990 till date
1990: During the talks for German reunification, US Secretary of State James Baker, German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and the NATO General Secretary promised Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, that NATO wouldn’t expand one inch to the East.
1991: USSR collapses. US starts planning NATO Eastward expansion.
1999: Former Russian allies Czech Republic, Hungary & Poland join NATO. Russian requests to join NATO denied.
2003: Georgia Color Revolution (US supported coup) installs anti-Russia and pro-US regime.
2004: 7 East European countries join NATO including former Soviet republics Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
2014: Ukraine Color Revolution (US supported coup) installs anti-Russia and pro-US with Neo-Nazi elements regime.
Russia retakes Russian majority populated Crimea from Ukraine. Crimea was gifted to Ukraine by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
Russian majority populated Donbass and Luhansk regions of Ukraine declare independence from Ukraine. Brutal civil war follows and continues till date killing more than 14000 people.
Minsk accord is signed in which Ukraine agrees to grant autonomy to Donbass and Luhansk.
2019: US withdraws from Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
2019: Current President Zelensky comes to power promising rapprochement with Russia and on the back of huge support from Ukraine’s Russian population.
After winning, backtracks on all promises under US pressure and continue hostile policies towards Russia. Neo-Nazi groups threaten ethnic cleansing on Russian population in Ukraine. Attacks against Donbass and Luhansk continue.
2020: Color Revolution in Belarus foiled.
2021: Color Revolution in Kazakhstan foiled.
Russia demands US and NATO give in writing that Ukraine wont be allowed to join NATO. Says Ukraine membership is an existential threat to itself survival given that hypersonic nuclear missiles from Ukraine can hit Moscow in 5 minutes and US withdrawal from Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
2022: US and NATO reject Russian demands. US says Russian invasion imminent. Increased shelling by Ukrainian forces on Donbass.
Ukraine says Minsk accord is dead.
Zelensky says Ukraine will get Nuclear weapons.
Russia recognises the independence of Donbass and Luhansk.
Russia invades Ukraine on 24th Feb 2022.
