The 1st Melbourne Hockey Cup will be played at Melbourne Sports Centre Parkville (Melbourne ) from 23rd to 25th September 2022, according to a statement released by members of organising committee Gurdeep Singh and Manpreet Singh.
According to the media release, a total of eight teams will be seen in action in the tournament, which will see some of the top hockey players in Australia in action.
The teams should be divided into two pools, with the two top teams of the pool to qualify for the semi finals.
The Tournament will be played under the rules of Federation of International Hockey (FIH) under the supervision of International Umpires. The winners will get Cash awards along with winners’ trophies and medals.
Hockey legend and Olympian Pargat Singh (ex Captain of Indian Hockey Team, ex Education and Sports Minister of Punjab and currently a Member of Legislative Assembly from Jalandhar Cantt, will be the chief guest at the tournament.
Another hockey great and former Pakistan captain Waseem Ahmad will also be a Guest of Honour at the tournament.
