Outstanding international students, education providers, businesses and community organisations who support the NSW international education sector are encouraged to submit their nominations for the 2022 NSW International Student Awards.
Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade Stuart Ayres said the awards recognise the contribution of international students and celebrate the sector’s commitment to education, leadership, diversity and the NSW community.
“These awards are about showcasing the outstanding contributions international students have made right across NSW,” Mr Ayres said.
“Our international student community plays a critical role in helping make NSW a more vibrant, multicultural and dynamic place.”
Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology and Minister for Skills and Training Alister Henskens said our world-class universities are a magnet for students worldwide who want an outstanding educational experience.
“These awards recognise students who have made that journey and are immersed in our communities while they study,” Mr Henskens said.
A total of six awards will be presented across two groups:
· The NSW International Student of the Year Awards – recognising the contributions of individual students in higher education, vocational education and training (VET), English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) and schools sectors.
· The NSW International Student Community Engagement Awards – recognising the contribution of education providers, businesses and organised groups that support international students to connect with the NSW community.
University of Sydney student Joshua Wan won the 2021 NSW International Student of the Year award in the Higher Education category and said the accolade gave him industry credit and opened up new opportunities.
“When I attend job interviews, interviewers usually know I was one of the winners. It is great to have my accomplishments recognised,” Mr Wan said.
