Federal Member of Parliament Michelle Rowland has paid tribute to the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar.
“Lata Didi was one of India’s most venerated singers, who had over 30,000 songs in 36 languages and a legendary Bollywood career,” Ms Rowland said in a statement.
“Her golden voice is known to have brought tears to the eyes of former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru with her song ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’ – a tribute to a grieving nation.”

Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday morning at the age of 92. She had been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai earlier last month after testing positive for Covid-19. The doctor who treated her said she died of multi-organ failure.
Ms Rowland said, “Her rich musical legacy spending across eight decades is one that will be indefinitely treasured by India and throughout the global community.”
