Indian community in New Zealand and Australia is coming together to help the family of a Kiwi-Indian man who passed away last week.
Indian diaspora is raising funds to help the family of 37-year-old Ajay Kumar Sarangal, who passed away last week after a long battle with Blood Cancer.
Sarangal’s friend Vishal has launched a petition to raise funds for the grieving family.
“He was the light in all our eyes. Treasured husband, son, dad and friend to many. His memory will continue to eat in our hearts as we mourn the loss of his battle with blood cancer. So many of us know his battle with leukaemia and how bravely he coped up. Still, sadly he answered heavenly calls on Thursday at 9:30 am and is now walking alongside the Angels in heaven,” Vishal Verma posted on ‘Givealittle’.

Vishal Verma, who had been friends with Sarangal since the “first day of pre-school in DAV school, Dinanagar, Punjab, India”, describes him as ‘superhero’.
“No one could be like Ajay. He definitely led a great life. He was a superhero; his helping nature, caring, patient, intelligent and kindest personality left an everlasting impression on everyone he met. I am getting tremendous calls from our school, college, university friends, and worldwide who know him. People are sharing how he touched their lives,” posted Vishal.

Due to the Coronavirus related travel restrictions, Sarangal’s mortal remains could not be repatriated to India. His family in India has also not been able to travel to New Zealand.
“We can’t repay what he did for the friends who know him, but we can pay the last tribute to the greatest soul and diligent man, so we are collecting funds that family can use for his 2.5-year-old son’s upbringing and other needs,” says Vishal in his petition adding, “your small contribution can make a big difference during the time of grief if you can please. We all can feel what it is like to lose a loved one.”
