A new look Australian women’s team had an easy win over the visiting Indian team in the opening one-day international of the CommBank series at Mackay.
Teenage pace bowling duo of Darcie Brown and Hannah Darlington set up an easy nine-wicket win for Australia against India at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay today.
Australia’s openers Rachael Haynes (93 not out) and Alyssa Healy (77) then combined with Meg Lanning (53no) to make light work of the run chase, surpassing India’s 8-225 in the 41st over in the one-sided contest.
Brown (4-33) and Darlington (2-39) took six wickets between them to strangle the Indian innings, the highlight of which was a 77-run third-wicket stand between skipper Mithali Raj and debutante Yastika Bhatia. Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux claimed two wickets.
This was Australia’s 25th consecutive ODI win, a world-record.
