The victorian skilled visa program is now closed for the financial year 2020-21. The government says the final selection day for ROIs was Friday, 21 May 2021.
“If you are interested in skilled Victorian nomination, you will need to submit a new Registration of Interest (ROI) during a submission window from July 2021. Please visit our latest news for more information,” reads the notification posted on its website.
According to the notification, as of 31 May 2021, for the 2020-21 program, 7,157 ROIs have been received, and 1,806 applications have been made for Victorian visa nomination.
1,043 places had been allocated to Victoria for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
“ As of 31 May 2021, for the 2020-21 program, 1,403 ROIs have been received, and 303 applications have been made for Victorian visa nomination,” said the government.
The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa provides opportunities for skilled professionals to gain further work experience in Regional Victoria. Subclass 491 visa holders may be eligible to apply for the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191).
As of 31 May 2021, 69% of all nominated applicants held an Australian qualification in the current financial year. 7% of all nominated applicants had a PhD, of which more than 72% were from Australian universities.
“These numbers demonstrate that Australian qualified migrants are well regarded by Victorian employers and are able to meet other eligibility requirements for Victorian nomination. Potential applicants, including those with PhDs awarded by Victorian institutions, are encouraged to submit a Registration of Interest if they meet the relevant eligibility criteria for either subclass 190 or subclass 491 visa nomination,” the Victorian government said.
