Cinetown, an entertainment website established by Sydney-based entrepreneur, producer and director Dave Sidhu “will bring the best of Punjabi cinema to Australia.”
This was announced at a Meet and Greet to celebrate ‘Punjabi Cinema in Australia’ organised by Cinetown, an entertainment website founded by Sidhu.
“I am thrilled to bring the best of Punjabi cinema to Australia. This is a great opportunity for fans to connect with their favourite stars and for the Punjabi film industry to expand its reach beyond India.”, said an excited Dave Sidhu speaking at the event, adding, “We believe that this event will be a huge success and will help to further strengthen the bond between the Punjabi community in Australia and the film industry.”
He urged local Punjabi talent in Australia to register themselves and their talent via the Cinetown website or their social media page.
Punjabi cinema has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, not just in India but also in countries like Australia, Canada, and the United States. The industry has produced several successful films that have resonated with audiences worldwide. This event is a testament to its growing global appeal, says Sidhu.
Special guests at the event included actor/producer Jarnail Singh, actor/singer/comedian Karamjit Anmol, and actor Nisha Bano.
Speaking on the occasion, Jarnail Singh said that unlike UK, where the second generation of talent is now beginning to emerge, Australia is a step behind with the next generation of film talent is yet to be identified.
Punjabis from across Melbourne attended the event held at The Grand Saffron, South Morang.
Cinetown plans to host a number of events that will showcase Punjabi cinema’s star power, exciting film screenings, and industry collaborations.
